Moving to the Country: A Nine Year Olds Perspective
Moving.
“Should we?” was the big question and when it was a yes, I was excited, but there were cons. Will I find new friends at my new school? Should I try French? Am I going to get eaten by a coyote? When will I get to see my friends and family?
And the pros. YES, WE GET A POOL!!!! A hot tub!! A pool table! A bigger room!!! And…the COUNTRY!!!!!!!
Believe me its been a lot of work to make it feel like home. But I have learned that if something is a mess clean it up and it will turn into something amazing. Like my new home.
Finding the right new friends was hard. Finding my place with a group of girls who speak another language at school and have been together since kindergarten seemed impossible. But after some time I found my place and noticed that you don’t have to find a best friend, you just need a couple of girls to hang in there and have your back. I am now working at French and getting conversational. And I have not been eaten by a coyote.
Now, its been 10 months, and I have been living here for 9 months. (Yes, my parents sprung this on us just before the end of the school year last year) As I sit here rocking in the rocking chair, I look back and see where we are is almost as good as it gets. Being here with my family and comfortable and cozy at home I have so much to be grateful for. Mother’s Day is just around the corner. (I’d tell you what we got my mom but she is going to read this::)) The pool is opening, I am working on earning a FITBIT from my new “teacher” for doing my schoolwork and the weather is nice. I mean life is good. (I am a bit stressed though!)
“The change has been hard, but it’s worth it.”
I think Nanna is so proud of her daughter and son-in-law for taking their 3 yahoos and me. (not a yahoo) into this new chapter of life. Its hard to describe but I know she is proud. And I am proud of my parents for having four children and teaching me to handle things the way I am now and that is handling things without yelling and crying and believing in myself and doing hard things. And for making me the creative, quirky, crazy, smart girl I am today.
This Mother’s Day I am wishing my Mom, Grandma, Nana, Aunties and all the mother’s of the world (including Mary in heaven) a Happy and Wonderful Mother’s Day!!
xxoo
